2019 Lamborghini Aventador Performante – Upsetting the Heavens

Performante means “ALA”. ALA means “Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva”. That last one also means that boundaries of plain physics are redrawn with it. When Huracan was treated with this “treat”, it became fastest production car in the world by rushing through famous “Green Hell” in just 6:52, beating 918 Spyder by five seconds and being faster than brotherly Aventador Super Veloce (which bares twice the price tag) by whole 7 seconds and a few tenths more. Porsche GT2 RS couple of days ago robbed it from its title with the lap time of 6:47, showing how technological progress is rampant these days. Still, fastest in the world or not anymore, Performante moniker awakes feelings of respect and veneration in all of us.

BIG DADDY’S TIME

Giving the amount of success generated by appending of mentioned holy label to Huracan, it is natural to expect similar treatment for the big daddy or flagship Aventador. That will also mean that sold out “Super Veloce” and current S are not going to be the biggest brutes around the Aventador block anymore.

Spy photos of weird Aventador test mule appeared and the fact that it carries double exhaust above its regular rectangular center outlet gives a strong sensation of upcoming Performante treatment. So, what could we expect from 2019 Lamborghini Aventador Performante?

2019 LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR PERFORMANTE SPECS

If we have to envision a future special version of Aventador we have to turn to the same one from Huracan, as officially nothing is available at this moment. Primarily, Performante brings ALA as noted above, which more precisely means revised front and rear bumpers with larger intakes, front lip, and new rear diffuser.

But the main thing is the huge wing at the back. And it is far from just sitting there as it comes with flaps that open or close based on circumstances incredibly increasing grip in the corners. With that Huracan is not glued to the tarmac it is nailed to it! Check its Nurburgring lap video, after which same lap video of Aventador SV would seem as driver wrestling with an angry bull (which SV actually is).

Beside this marvelous technology, Huracan Performante is also 90 pounds lighter due to the increased usage of carbon-fiber, the whole suspension is made stiffer and magnetorheological dampers went through some revisions. And off course tires migrated from Pirelli P Zeros to “hard-core(er)” P Zero Corsa tires. Finally, power was raised by 29 hp and 30 lb-ft of torque.

AVENTADOR PERFORMANTE RELEASE DATE AND PRICE

2019 Lamborghini Aventador Performante is presumably going to bring upgrades in the same realm as those suffered by Huracan Performante. Can you imagine what is that going to do to the automotive world? We are betting that GT2 RS’s “sitting on the throne days” are numbered. Why? Imagine Huracan Performante with V12 naturally aspirated 6.5-liter heart pumping at minimum extra 110 hp and 70 lb-ft of twist (but almost certainly above that), wider track, push-rod suspension, four-wheel steering… This beast could arrive from the deepest pits of hell as soon as the gates are open, possibly somewhere during next year, while estimated price of around half million dollars is going to be a bargain of the century. Last said is with all respect to the much cheaper Porsche GT2 RS, but let’s face it, this Lambo still dwells a couple of echelons above. Or below if they all indeed come from hell.
