The British premium automobile manufacturer, MINI has strengthened the progressive character and appeal of its models in the small car segment with a stylishly refined visual appearance and extensive technological advancements with a MINI Cooper Hardtop 2 Door variant, a MINI Cooper Hardtop 4 Door and a MINI Cooper Convertible for 2018. These includes fresh design accentuations, additional customization options and an expansion of the digital services available as part of MINI Connected. However, the changes in the new MINI are only cosmetic and come with the same engine under the hood.
In detail
BMW is rolling out the 2019 S Hardtop, in both two – and four-door configurations, as well as a refreshed S Convertible. The 2019 Mini Cooper S made its debut at the 2018 Detroit auto show. The 2019 version goes into production in March. In the U.S. market, the changes it brings are purely cosmetic. Other markets see powertrain revisions as well, and those may come to the States at some point.
The new MINI Hardtop 2 doors and the MINI Hardtop 4 doors will get a modified design for the characteristic circular headlights along with the standard halogen headlights. The upright light units at the rear now appear in a Union Jack design. Mini will monitor you more closely than before with the standard emergency-call and connected-drive functions, and there is a new interface for the standard center screen. The drive-mode selector, previously a cheap-feeling collar around the gear-shifter trim, is now a toggle switch.
2019 Mini Cooper S Price and Release date
For the moment there are no details available about the price or the release date for both Hardtop and Convertible S. Of course, we are expecting higher prices that the starting price of the outgoing Mini. The best thing we can do now is wait and hope for the best, looking forward to see what the New Mini Cooper has reserved for us in matter of pricing.
The design
The options for the 2019 Mini Cooper S are similar and some the same with the Mini Cooper S . For the colors we can choose from Emerald Grey metallic, Starlight Blue metallic and Solaris Orange metallic. The selection of optionally available light alloy wheels has been expanded, too. The 17-inch light alloy wheels in the design styles Roulette Spoke 2-tone and Propeller Spoke 2-tone are now available for all body variants of the new Mini.
With the Mini Yours Customized programs you can add and individualize your car, taking it to a whole new level. It includes side scuttles, decorative strips for the interior on the passenger side, LED door sill finishers and LED door projectors. The Mini Yours Customized includes retrofit products whose design can be created by customers themselves, which are then produced precisely according to these individual specifications.
The interior
For the interior there is a selection of seat surfaces and color lines which adds a style to it. New features include supple Malt Brown Chesterfield Leather upholstery. On the features list is a new 6.5-inch display is included as standard, and features an updated and optimized user interface.
It also has Bluetooth mobile phone integration, and support for Bluetooth audio streaming. In addition, customers can specify a new 8.8-inch touchscreen navigation system with new user interface and greatly expanded features.
MINI has also integrated a storage compartment in the center armrest console for wireless charging of phones, a second USB port and 4G LTE connectivity. The Mini Connected app has now added a personal mobility assistant feature that allows owners to access calendar entries and contact and plan routes based on current traffic flow.
Engine and Specs
Mini Cooper S model should return with a 189-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four paired to the same six-speed manual or automatic as the base model. As an alternative to the standard 6-speed manual transmission, a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch is optionally available for the models Mini One, Mini Cooper, Mini Cooper S and Mini Cooper D.
The U.S. models keep the standard six-speed manual and optional six-speed automatic transmission; other markets get a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox or an eight-speed automatic. The new transmission type is characterized by very fast gearshifts, enabling extremely sporty acceleration maneuvers without torque interrupt.
