A few days back Elon Musk released the upcoming 2020 Tesla Roadster. While there are still a few missing details about the car, we have a pretty good idea about what to expect from it. This will be the fastest electric car when it will hit the market. In fact, chances are it will be the fastest production vehicle ever made which is not an easy feat to achieve for an electric vehicle. All of this performance will likely be achieved with the help of Tesla’s upcoming battery technology. Just like before, the new Roadster will be a test-bed for their future cars. Thanks to that, the car will employ Tesla’s latest features. Unlike the predecessor though, the new model is not going to use the chassis of a Lotus. Instead, Tesla will build the new car on a bespoke chassis which will give them quite a few more options when it comes to what they can do.
In detail
Like before, the car will be built mostly out of aluminum but this time around they may also employ some carbon fiber. The end result should be a relatively lightweight vehicle for all the technology it will house under the skin.

In terms of size, it looks like the new 2023 Tesla Roadster will be quite similar to its predecessor. The car will be just as low and as long. However, it will be wider and it will have a different set of proportions. Thanks to this, the car will also look quite a bit more menacing but more on that later.
Release date and Price
Elon said they will start deliveries for the new Roadster somewhere around the end of 2023. However, they may start manufacturing the car in the late 2019 and give it to select customers in order to finish the development process faster. He announced the price will be somewhere around $250,000 for the Founder’s Series. The regular model will cost right around $200,000 which would make it the most expensive production electric car to date. Even though this may seem like a lot, for the performance the car will offer this will be quite impressive.
The design of Tesla Roadster
Unlike its predecessor, the upcoming 2023 Tesla Roadster will have a far more aggressive design. For starters, the car will feature a pushed-back cabin, similar to that of a front-engine car. The windshield will be heavily raked towards the back while the hood will be very low, especially for a car this size.

The end result will be a similar profile to the Corvette. The big difference here will be the fact that the Roadster will feature a removable roof. The car will also feature a new design for Tesla with active air intakes meant to give it better stability during high speed runs. Things like a massive rear diffuser, an active wing and even under-car flaps will be standard.
The interior of 2023 Tesla Roadster
Even though it looks like a two seats roadster, the 2023 Tesla Roadster will not feature two seats. The car will feature a 2+2 seating configuration which will give it far higher versatility than otherwise. It will also feature quite a bit of storage space inside, including two trunks.

Thanks to this, the Roadster should become the perfect companion for longer trips. For now, the interior design is not that impressive but we are quite sure this is going to change for the production model of the car. Even so, we still expect something quite minimalist which has been the case with all Tesla’s cars for a while.
2020 Tesla Roadster Specs
So far Tesla offered cars with up to two engines. The 2023 Tesla Roadster is a bit more different. The car will feature two electric motors in the back with a larger electric motor in the front. The output is unknown for now but Elon said the car is making 10,000 Nm of torque which is a massive amount for a sports car. He said the car will hit 60 MPH in just 1.9 seconds and it will hit a top speed in excess of 250 MPH, thus making it the fastest electric car ever made. A more impressive feat has to be its range. Thanks to a 200 kWh battery-pack, the Roadster will be able to drive for up to 621 miles on a single charge. This is nearly double the range of the best electric car currently on the market.
